Marcel Kuijsten Bio

Marcel Kuijsten (pronounced Kow-sten) is Founder and Executive Director of the Julian Jaynes Society, a scholarly society and academic publishing company.

He has designed, edited, and published three books: Gods, Voices, and the Bicameral Mind: The Theories of Julian Jaynes, The Julian Jaynes Collection and Reflections on the Dawn of Consciousness: Julian Jaynes's Bicameral Mind Theory Revisited and is co-editor (with Brian J. McVeigh) of The Jaynesian, the newsletter of the Julian Jaynes Society.

In June 2013, Marcel Kuijsten co-chaired (with Rabbi James Cohn) the 2013 Julian Jaynes Society Conference on Consciousness and Bicameral Studies. This was the largest conference entirely dedicated to Julian Jaynes's theory on consciousness and the bicameral mind ever held. He has also spoken at the Science of Consciousness conference in Tucson, Arizona and the Julian Jaynes Conference on Consciousness in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Marcel Kuijsten earned Bachelors degrees in Psychology and English and a Masters in Business Administration. His interests include the origin and future of consciousness, Julian Jaynes's bicameral mind theory, evolutionary psychology, unconscious influences on behavior, the nature of opinion formation and belief systems, plant-based nutrition, and animal rights.
