Marcel Kuijsten (pronounced Kow-sten) is Founder and Executive Director of the Julian Jaynes Society, a scholarly society and academic publishing company.

He has designed, edited, and published three books: Gods, Voices, and the Bicameral Mind: The Theories of Julian Jaynes, The Julian Jaynes Collection and Reflections on the Dawn of Consciousness: Julian Jaynes's Bicameral Mind Theory Revisited and is co-editor (with Brian J. McVeigh) of The Jaynesian, the newsletter of the Julian Jaynes Society.

In June 2013, Marcel Kuijsten co-chaired (with Rabbi James Cohn) the 2013 Julian Jaynes Society Conference on Consciousness and Bicameral Studies. This was the largest conference entirely dedicated to Julian Jaynes's theory on consciousness and the bicameral mind ever held. The multidisciplinary program featured 26 speakers over three full days, including keynote talks by Professor Roy Baumeister, Professor Merlin Donald, and Dr. Dirk Corstens. The conference brought together Jaynes enthusiasts from around the U.S. as well as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Netherlands, Thailand, Turkey, and the United Kingdom. He has also spoken at the Toward A Science of Consciousness Conference in Tucson, Arizona and the Julian Jaynes Conference on Consciousness in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Marcel Kuijsten earned Bachelors degrees in Psychology and English and a Masters in Business Administration. He spent a summer doing research in the Engineering Department at Princeton University and he is certified in hypnosis and hypnotherapy by the American Academy of Hypnosis.

His interests include the origin and future of consciousness, Julian Jaynes's bicameral mind theory, evolutionary psychology, unconscious influences on behavior, hypnosis, the nature of opinion formation and belief systems, plant-based nutrition, and animal rights.
